Image Compressor

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP images without leaving your browser. Set the quality and the maximum width, then compare the result side by side.

Original

Compressed

Compression happens on your device with the Canvas API — your images are never uploaded.

What does this tool do?

It re-encodes your image at a lower quality and, if you want, a smaller pixel size. That is the fastest way to cut the weight of a photo before uploading it to a website, a form or a chat.

How to use this tool

  1. Pick an image from your device.
  2. Choose JPEG, WebP or PNG as the output format.
  3. Drag the quality slider and set a maximum width.
  4. Compare the two previews, then download the compressed file.

FAQ

Which format should I choose?

WebP usually gives the smallest file at the same visual quality, JPEG is the safest for compatibility, and PNG stays lossless — useful for screenshots and graphics with sharp edges.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The image is decoded and re-encoded by your own browser through the Canvas API. Nothing is transmitted.

Why is the PNG result bigger than the JPEG?

PNG is lossless, so it keeps every pixel and ignores the quality slider. For photos, choose JPEG or WebP instead.

How much can I shrink a photo?

Quality 70–80% usually cuts a phone photo by 60–80% with no visible difference. Resizing to the width you actually need saves even more.
